Sustainable “Green Events” with BMK

Responsible and sustainable events

Great performance, made sustainably according to socially, ecologically and economically compatible principles. BMK acts as an environmentally conscious company and strives to organize events in the most environmentally friendly way. We began to examine all areas of our company and the processes around events regarding their ecological footprint at an early stage. We would like to give you the following examples of core areas of our company.

  • We have a paperless office since the very beginning.
  • All data is stored on cloud servers in data centers that are powered by 100 % green electricity.
  • IT devices are used as long as possible to avoid unnecessary electronic waste.
  • In our offices, we work with 100 % green electricity.
  • Meetings with customers are done digitally and trips to absolutely necessary on-site appointments are carried out using public transport.
  • Invoices are sent completely digitally, unless customers have different regulations.
  • Our equipment consists of the latest technologies – always taking sustainable and ecological aspects into account.
  • We significantly reduce costs by selecting high-quality and long-lasting products.
  • As for a lighting, we work with an energy-saving, current LED technology.
  • Rechargeable batteries are used. We charge them before each event with 100% green electricity.
  • Our vehicle fleet (vans/cars) is provided by a rental car company and consists of the latest and fuel-efficient vehicles, which are replaced with new models every six months.
  • Smart logistics with a mobility concept lead to reduced CO2 emissions as we avoid subsequent deliveries through efficient planning of trips and sophisticated inventory management.
  • Our co-workers come to work by public transport (DB included).
  • Production locations, which cannot be reached by a public transport, we arrange a smaller bus so that the film crew fits in.
  • In order to reduce cross-regional travel, we hire local team members alongside the core team, such as make-up artists, interpreter technicians, teleprompter operators, camera people and helpers.
  • Selection of sustainable event locations.
  • Event destinations are reached by public transportation easily so your resources are used carefully and sustainably.
  • Our suppliers as catering companies, service providers, security and other follow environmental policy and are selected based on their sustainability.
  • Energy-saving LED lamps are used in hotels, which include a lighting control concept.
  • We use mainly energy-efficient kitchen devices.
  • Recycled materials and natural materials are preferred for setting up the stages and decorating them.
  • Stage back walls are built in a modular system that can be reused.
  • When building the stage or other construction, it is very important to us that the construction can be easily dismantled. This means: no glue, rather screw, plug or cover.
  • When ordering, attention is paid to certified natural materials and renewable raw materials are preferred than synthetic, fossil ones.
  • We use for live streaming a climate-friendly data centers that work mostly with a green electricity.
  • We broadcast by using a reduced data rate, which reduces the total amount of data transmitted and the computing power.
  • We use AMD Epic processors in our encoding and transcoding infrastructure. These are significantly more efficient in energy consumption than their predecessors.
  • Our hosting infrastructure is based on SSD hard drives, which allow us a faster access to the required data and need less power.
  • We make sure that the used components have their best service life.
  • Establishment of the energy management system (EnMS) in accordance with ISO 50001:2018 in the data centers leads to the optimization of energy use and overall reduction of CO2 consumption.
  • Seasonal and regional products are preferred.
  • Consideration of optimal logistics when purchasing raw materials.
  • Use of “Fair Trade” products.
  • Gentle, energy-saving and needs-based preparation of the meals.
  • Additional vegetarian/vegan menu possible.
  • Reusable packaging is preferred.
